Yesterday was the celebration of Hari Raya Aidiladha by our fellow Muslims in Malaysia. Since it was a public holiday, everyone was excited and happily heading to their hometown to celebrate this special day and to the non-Muslim, it would be a day to rest. Here in Melaka, roads were clear and quiet.... yes, I would say Melaka is a small town with very close community... so, most of us would be home with family members. Our fellow muslims would be in their village busy preparing for the Korban session. There was once... many years back, I happened to have passed by a village and got to watch a ceremony where cows & goats were being slaugtered and divided to everyone in the Muslim village. What's so special about this ceremony, you may ask? Well, the Muslims believe that although they may have sacrificed those animals.... they do it with proper manner and prayers are said. Frankly, I don't know what is the main purpose of this celebration yet... I'll need to hunt my Muslim friends someday to get some explaination ..=)
It is very unfortunate to hear and read news of fatal accidents on the roads and highways. At the first page of the NST paper today inserted a picture of a car being ramped into a huge lorry. What a wreck! Luckily too, mum and daugter survived though they had serious injuries. Then, a family of four dies on the spot as their car was sandwiched in an accident involving six cars at the Expressway. No one wants this to happen. It is sad to see such incidents occur .... taking innocent lives. They were just on the way to their village to celebrate Hari Raya Korban!
As for others, the event was celebrated moderately with prayers and some cooked food by the makcik-makcik. Some have intention of celebrating small in the significant of the Tsunami survivors. The survivors of Tsunami disaster in Malaysia felt very blessed and glad though they faced losses of belongings and their homes. Every Malaysian residents are helping as much as possible to build up what's gone for these people... Indeed, all of us felt a mixed feelings after the disaster and want to give as much support to the victims.
Do look at the bright side too... Everything happens for a reason. Whatever it is, everyone should move on and live with it... appreciating what's given to you.
Hello world, are you still around?
